The Naked and the Dead were a short-lived but influential gothic rock/deathrock band from New York, founded in 1985. They split up after issuing one eponymous four-song demo cassette in September 1985. In 2001, following a revival of interest (particularly for their old song "Cassandra") and appearances on several compilation CDs, the band self-released a collection of their 1985 studio and live recordings (later reissued via Lulu.com in 2007). They reformed during early 2002, culminating in a reunion show in Brooklyn in December 2002. The band went into hibernation again in early 2003, though they reunited for a special 20th anniversary concert at the Drop Dead Festival, held at Manhattan's Knitting Factory in October 2005,.〔http://www.nemesis.to/dd1.htm〕 Bollman and Fasolino were members of Brooklyn dream pop band Bell Hollow from 2003–2008, while latter-day vocalist Julia Ghoulia and 2005 drummer D.W. Friend (ex-Brickbats) performed with The Brides. An eponymous EP consisting of the four tracks on the 1985 demo cassette and three 1985 live tracks was digitally self-released in 2009. Three of the tracks appeared on the 2012 compilation LP ''Dark New York (Gotham City's Post Punk, Goth, & Deathrock Bands 1983-1988) Vol. 1''. In 2014, the band's 1985 song "Carousel" was prominently featured on the ''Killed by Deathrock, Vol. 1'' compilation issued by Sacred Bones Records).〔http://www.sacredbonesrecords.com/releases/sbr3014/〕 ==Members== *Christopher Bollman - bass (1985, 2002, 2005) *Greg Fasolino - guitar (1985, 2002, 2005) *Lorianne Oakley - vocals (1985) *John Grady - drums (1985) *David Patti - drums (1985, 2002) *Julia Ghoulia - vocals (2002, 2005) *D.W.
